A history of almost a 100 years, strong position in the market of steel products and a modern style of management are the major assets of GCB CENTROSTAL – BYDGOSZCZ SA. The origins of the company go back to 1911. Since December 1991 CENTROSTAL has been a joint-stock company. In June 1999 the company became a Group, comprising of a holding company and subsidiary companies. The name GCB (Centrostal Bydgoszcz Group) is a registered trademark.

The shareholders of the company are:
- UGMK (Ukrainskaya Gorno-Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya) – the leader in steel
distribution and processing in Ukraine; it operates in the domestic and foreign steel
markets, ISO 9001 certified; owns 96,9% of shares.
- private individuals.
